Have a robot cell that has been running for years that is an LRMate 200iD/7L on a R-30iB controller. Recently the robot can be running for 1 hour or 8 hours and then the motion just stops. When I go to the pendant to monitor the program or check for errors, pressing a key lights up the screen but it is frozen and no buttons are responsive. A power cycle will allow it to run again for some time again before freezing.

I have tried searching these forums and it seems every post with non responsive pendant has gone unanswered.

I contacted Fanuc and they told me to look at the mainboard lights. Are those applicable past startup?

A robot is probably being used in the automatic working position. If the pendant robot freezes while doing automatic work, there may be many reasons for this.

-The executed program may be too long or there may be too many subprograms or cycles in the program. The buddha will pile up after a while and the controller may freeze.

-The main program running on your motherboard The motherboard may freeze after a while due to rom or ram problems. That's why Fanuc told you to compare the lights of the motherboard when the robot is working normally and the controller is frozen.

-Another reason is a voltage leakage caused by your power line or a similar problem that affects your robot and the control may freeze. In particular, I have seen that the voltage fluctuation makes the controller inoperable and causes problems, and even the software becomes inoperable.

-Testing it by making an exchange with a working version of the pendant and cable may also give you an idea.

-After turning on the robot, waiting for hours without running any programs to see if the controller freezes will also give you an idea.

    byrol thanks for responding.

We have made no changes to the program or hardware and this cell has been running since 2016 so I dont believe it is an issue with the program

I unfortunately do not have any spare parts or know good parts to use as a test.

So far with the robot not running but the controller powered on I have not witnessed the pendant freeze up, but as I mentioned in the regular post it varies in the amount of time before there is an issue even when running.
