IRB640 S4C Plus M2000 compatible with DSQC328 IO Card

    Hello,

    I need some IO ports on my ABB IRB640 S4C Plus M2000 engine. can I use the DSQC328 IO card ? I would connect them to the CAN IF and to 24V and hopefully I can configure it via the panel. The robot is completely new for me.

    1. Is both compatible ?

    2. Has somebody a manual how to install it and how to make the configuration ? The only thing I found was this Add DSQC328 I/O Card & Declare I/O on ABB S4C

    3. Has the S4C Plus M2000 a IO card already which could I used ? I found nothing

    4. Is it possible to integrate the IO card into the ABB robot studio (rapid) ?

    The DSQC328 is made for the M2000 System, is was the standard eio Card.

    it is easy, on the panel you can add a configuration sample for the DSQC328.

    Systemparameter>EIO Settings>add configuration

    You find the sample in Mediapool on the robot, i mean utillity>Eio....

    or you can load this file, (rename from txt to cfg)

    That's perfectly possible.

    To address your points:

    1. They are compatible and easy to integrate.
    2. The manual you referred to is good; use the images below to configure the hardware.
    3. The S4C Plus M2000 has no built-in I/O—only some emergency channels and serial ports.
    4. You can use the I/O you want, but not directly in RobotStudio. You need to create a different I/O file for RobotStudio.

    The code below should be in a file named EIO.CFG, you can create and upload the file as a parameter to the s4c+:


    to be able to use IO in robotstudio (for simulation) the file below can be created.

    I always call it EIO_RS.CFG. you can create and than upload it in robotstudio

    Hi,

    We connect the device as you mentioned.

    There are two LEDs. MS ist permanently Green and the other one NS ist blonking green.

    IT Looks Like the address ist wrong, but we are Sure WE Set the Jumpers corrrectly. IT is the same Like in your Image address 11.

    WE Upload the new cfg File via ftp. And add the new Module via the Panel. WE can See the configured Signals in the Panel, but the value ist Always "?" And can Not be set. Looks Like he has No Connection to the Module.

    IS IT possible to search for all available CAN Driver nodes? Same Like in thebPC with Ping ?

    Thanks you all for your Help.

    The LEDs are Green, bow. WE changed the cfg File and load them again. It works. Maybe you have an explanation why this cfg File works and the other one Not? IT was more try and Error. :smiling_face: I added the cfg to the appendix.

    Iam Not Sure If WE have the A82 Board, because there ia No connecotr XS6. WE only have X6.

    WE connected IT to X8 (CAN 2).

    Have the Board hardwarewise two separated CAN BUS or is IT only one? Because some connectors are named as X8 CAN 2 and otherones have X1.1?

    WE can rename board10 to board11 then IT would fit to the address.

    Next step would bei to Switch an Output. But for me IT IS Not clear how the Output Looks like. This are Open relay contacts and one Side of thebcontacts are Connect together? I added an Image to the appendix.

    I must Connect Pin 10 of connectors X1 and X2 to 24V ? And Pin 9 of X1 and X2 to ground? If I Switch the contacts I would get 24V. If they are Not switched I get 0V? IS IT correct?

    Much of the information you need is found in the product manuals.

    A82 is the designation for the physical location of the DSQC 504 Base Connector Unit.

    Attach a pic of the DSQC328 X5 connection so it can be seen why the address now works.

    If 24V controller is being used for the DSQC328 power connections, it should come from the 24V I/O at XT-31 terminal normally found in the top of the controller > XT31:4 (0V) & XT31:2 (+24V fused)

    DSQC328 I/O power connection is:
    0V to X1:9, X2:9, X3:9, X4:9
    +24V to X1:10, X2:10

    Thanks. Ich will doch IT If i am in Front of the robot again. IT IS a bit complicated, because i Support a friend WHO IS the owner of the engine. He made Images from the stuff and Test it and send me Back.

    I will Check the connector stuff when i am there. I think next week.

    He ask me also, where WE could get a licsence for robot Studio 4.0? IS IT possible to buy IT? IT IS from 2004.

    My Workflow for S4c+ (M2000) is:

    Connect to the Robot with FTP
    For File Transfer i use totalcommander
    my FTP Connection Workfolder on the robot is the Backup Folder
    left side my PC, right side my FTP robot connection

    on the robot you must always save and load the File from the Backup folder

    for edit the Programm on the PC i use Ultra Edit
    The good thing from Ultra edit is wenn you copy a new file Version to the PC with totalcommander
    1. you can copy the File also file is open in Ultra edit
    2. Ultra edit ask after then , should i reload the new file?

    For Syntax check you can open the Files also in a current Robotstudion. The syntax is the same.
