I'm planning an ABB robot cell and want to use Profinet IO. The controller will be equipped with the "PROFINET Controller [3020-1]" option. As this is my first time working with fieldbus communication for ABB robotics, I'm looking to validate my understanding and seek community insights.
My proposed setup involves:
- ABB OmniCore V250XT controller as the Profinet controller
- Wago Profinet fieldbus coupler (Model 750-375) as device
- Modules including DI/DO/AI/AO and a frequency counter
Currently, I'm leaning towards the Wago coupler, but I'm not married to this choice. One of the key factors in my brand selection is the potential configuration software costs. If any additional software is required beyond RobotStudio, I'm particularly interested in solutions that minimize extra licensing expenses.
If anyone has experience with alternative fieldbus couplers that work well with ABB OmniCore controllers, I'm absolutely open to suggestions and recommendations.
My primary question is can the proposed setup be fully configured within RobotStudio? Will I need any additional software to complete the Profinet IO integration?
I've reviewed the relevant manuals, but I'm hoping to get practical insights from those with hands-on experience. Any guidance or potential pitfalls to watch out for would be greatly appreciated.
