    Hello,

I'm using an ESP32 as an Access Point (AP) and allowing devices to connect to it. However, I'm having trouble assigning static IPs to the connected devices. Is it not posible to attach static ip's to the connected devices? what kind of code do i need to solve this problem?

A static IP normally is configured on client side:winking_face:. May be you want Esp32 to give the same IP to a device when it is connected to Esp32.

Following https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7605…ss-to-ip-adress it's not possible out of the box at that time. I don't know a dhcp server code for Esp32 that works like you wish. Think you should ask in different forum, this one is for robots, not for network / Esp32 things.

Not sure what I am missing but I found these two options to maybe guide your effort:

    You are missing:

    - This is a old thread, think problem doesn't exist any more.

    - He uses the ESP as access point, your examples are for using ESP as client.

    - Probably he wants that a connected client get the same IP every time the client connects to ESP. When using ESP as access point the ESP will have a static IP as default, doesn't make sense to use an access point with dynamic IP.

Yeah, I ran into the same issue before. The ESP32’s built-in softAP doesn’t support assigning static IPs directly — devices usually need to set their own static IPs manually. You might need to manage it from the client side or implement a custom DHCP server.

You can assign static IPs to connected devices by implementing a DHCP server. However, the ESP32's built-in DHCP server doesn't directly support static IP assignments for specific MAC addresses. Instead, you can manage it manually by keeping track of connected devices and assigning them IPs based on their MAC addresses.
