Hello guys,
As advised on another post by SkyeFire I have been working on cloning the Hard drive of my KRC1 but sadly it ended up being very frustrating.
The original hdd I found in the machine is a 60gb Toshiba, but when connected to clonezilla it shows up as a 30gb, the two partitions are quite small (around 2gb each).
I suppose the HDD firmware was flashed in order to make disc show up as a 30gb.
I tried a bunch of HDD's and if they are larger than 32gb they will not get detected in the post, I ended up purchasing a Hitachi 30gb that finally shows up and has enough room for the cloning process.
I made two Images using a full sector disc image and a regular disc image.
I tried those images in a Virtual Machine and they both seem to work fine, they just get stuck when VxWorks wants to start and checks for material compatibility on the VM which is normal.
But now comes the problem, in the first post the Master HDD and the CD Rom get detected without issues, then it gets to :
Verifying DMI Pool Data .......
and fails showing up this message:
Missing operating system.
From what I found out online apparently this error happens because the motherboard has a different value stored in the CMOS for the boot options, it can happen when changing a HDD, normally accessing the BIOS should give me access to an advanced option to reset this value so it can move forward in the booting process with the new hdd.
Another page suggested that it could be a jumper setting problem as depending on the HDD manufacturer jumper positions can vary. I think I tried every combination possible but basically either the Hitachi was detected in post as primary or no disk was detected so I doubt it's a jumper related issue.
Do you guys know how I could access to the Bios as the teach pendant keyboard seems to do nothing during post? I tried connecting an old keyboard to the PS2 socket in the back of the teach pendant but it never worked.
Is the Bios even accessible or is it password protected?
Any input would be highly appreciated,
Thank you, regards,
Burt
