    Hello,

I am guessing you are referring to Ethernet/IP?

If so, first you must verify that you have the EIP scanner option (R785). If you have this, then setup the IO block connection in the ethernet/IP IO screen as "SCN" and configure the eds settings (can be acquired as an XML file from vendor and opened with a text editor). After that, configure the inputs in the DI/DO configuration for the related rack and slot (size for each DI/DO must equate to the input/output size in the device configuration).

I have attached some example images. Note that the names / values may be different for your scenario.

Yes seems like you know what im talking about. im new to the industry so unfortunately you have to talk to me in baby steps. What is the eds settings? how do i find the rack size and slot? how do i even know im on the right "row" when trying to get the io block to communicate by switching it to say (running)?

EDS refers to "electronic data sheet". It contains the settings to communicate with a given device. Includes data such as vendor ID, input/output size, input/output assembly, etc...

It is typically very easy to find Turck EDS files (note that you may need a different file if you are using TCP/IP). Go to their website, type in your model of IO block, and download the EDS file under the "downloads" tab.

If using Ethernet/IP you must use rack 89. Slot refers to the connection number in the Ethernet/IP screen. The row doesn't matter, as long as each row is a unique IP address and the row matches the slot in the DI/DO configuration.

The example I attached in my previous reply is actually a Turck TBEN-LG-16DXP in the field block connection. Yours should look similar. DI/DOs can be configured at any starting point as long as it does not overlap existing data.

See FANUC's EN02171E R-30iB Plus EtherNet/IP Setup and Operations Manual.
