I'm trying to communicate with an Ethernet IP network adapter, 1734 AENT series B, through Workvisual 6.0, but the following error appears when I try to add it to the Ethernet/IP network: 08:58:37 Error occurred in DTM 1734-AENT /B Ethernet Adapter Revision 4.2: Impossible to assign a default chassis to the device 0001000C006C0402.eds.

This file was downloaded directly from the official Rockwell website, it normally appears in the list of DTM's but this error appears when I try to add it.

i would recommend to stay away from Allen Bradley modular I/O unless one is using Allen Bradley hardware and software. when not using their HW/SW setup is possible but rather cumbersome. it is so much easier to just use products from other vendors.

RE: Rockwell point IO (1734-AENTR) Conecting with KRC

it worked fine on KRC4 so i so not see why it would not work on KRC5.

    however...!

this is not for fainthearted since there is no cushy AB software to recognize configuration and do things for you and AENT bus coupler does not not even think of doing something automatically with IO mapping like Beckhoff, Wago etc.

unfortunately on product like AENT everything need to be done externally (either through some software or manually). it is not the end of the world but if you are still considering…

for example, when doing setup manually, there is no default chassis. you need to count slices and pick EDS with correct chassis size.

    RE: Allen Bradley 1734-AENT

well, AB point I/O coupler is not exactly the easiest thing to setup. no idea how the setup on ABB side looks like but before you even get there you need to:

    1. configure AENT network settings. manual will explain what the dial switches are for. the factory default setting is to use 192.168.1.X subnet, in which case dial switches are used to specify the last octet. so if you set the switches to 123, IP address will be 192.168.1.123. for other settings you really need to check manual. if this…

    1) read pinned topic: READ FIRST...

    2) if you have an issue with robot, post question in the correct forum section... do NOT contact me directly

    3) read 1 and 2

So, I had already done this configuration of the chassis number correctly, and I had already defined the IP address, but I had no idea that I should download a specific EDS file with the chassis number. Thank you very much Panic Mode!

Can you tell me if I could somehow manipulate the EDS file, or would it be something very complex?
