Migration from RC5 to RC8 controller

    I have a backup from RC5 controller (it's a backup from WINCAPS 2) and I need to migrate all data from the backup to new RC8 controller. I tried opening backup from WINCAPS 2 in WINCAPS 3, but it fails with an error "This model does not correspond" Does anyone have an idea how to get all the data from an old controller.

    But are You trying to open a RC5 robot backup on WINCAPS 3, ou are You trying to open a cell created on WINCAPS 2 with WINCAPS 3?

    There are differences on this two situations, and I'm not sure if the second option would work.

    About the first option, You can try to build a RC8system on WINCAPS 3, from scratch, and after that load some specific data from RC5 Your backup, as the robot programs, frame data and so on.

    You will need to manually transfer everything from the WinCaps II backup to a new WinCaps III program. It is going to be time consuming as some of the language has changed. Also, you will have to account for all tools, areas and points as they are calculated differently as well.

    I exported points, tools, etc. data from WINCAPS 2 into PDF, exported it in Excel and transferred all data to WINCAPS 3 cls format.

    I got only a few problems with program conversion and solved them using regexp autoreplacement.
