    Hi.

My company has many robots those have same program and function.

Most of them need only 4s for creatinf backup. But some of them need much longer (40s, 100s, 3min...)

I replace a new memory card but that didn't help.

So what can be reason for this problem.

Please give some advices if you know, thank you.

Our older IRC5's take a lot longer to make a backup. The newer ones have better main computers with faster processors. Of course, those back up quite quickly.

yes, so maybe main computer is the reason?

Yes. And also possibly the pendant's processor, and the speed at which they can communicate/transfer data.

I didn't know the Cap Bank would sustain the 24V to the Computer Unit that long.

Which Computer Unit and RobotWare is it?

Are you backing up to the hard drive or one of the USB?

If USB, which port and what size is the USB?

    Hi Skooter.

My robots use IRC5 compact controller, robotware version is 6.04 or 6.08. That is the same for all my robots.

About computer unit, I'm not sure but I think it is also the same.

I backup to the robot controller memory card, via PC SDK command

    Hi Lemster.

I don' think Flex pendant is problem because I backup to robot controller memory card via PC SDK command

Have you compared the size of the backups between the normal (4s) and the slow?

They all use the same path?

Had someone years ago use the Home directory for backups which caused the backups to grow large but still under 15s to backup.

Yes I have compared backup size already. Not too diffrent (around 600Kb per backup).

The backup path is the same too. I backup to HOME folder. Backuping to HOME folder will need longer time?

Typically in the hard drive (memory card) root directory is a folder named the serial # of the controller/robot. In that folder is usually another folder named BACKUP. That's where I put backups. I've also seen a BACKUP folder in the root directory instead.

The HOME directory is part of the backup. If storing the backups in HOME directory, the backups are embedded in backups. Look in the home directory and look at the backups to see if that's happening.

What is the robot doing while the backups are being done?

Regarding the computer - if RW6.08 is running, it may have the newer style DSQC1000/1018 or newer DSQC1024 (motor cable attaches front top/left). I've only seen a couple compact controllers and they had the older DSQC639 computers (motor cable attaches front top/right).

    Hi Skooter.

Despite current working status (Auto, manual, moving or not, IO,...), those robots still take long time to backup. And it also need much more time to transfer backup from memory card to PC (via PC SDK?

Do you have any ide for this?

The CPU load spiked when the program repeatedly attempted to jump to a [GOTO] label upon startup due to unsatisfied conditions. I'm resolved this by stop(external hold) the robot, autobackup(System input signal), and then cycle start after 30sec.

Hi saberlars, thank you for sharing.

But this is not my case. I want to backup while robot is still running in Auto mode, not stop to backup

Recommand create routine(backup process monitoring) and change task priority while backup(Sytem input trigger).
