    Hi guys,
I hope everyone in this forum is fine.
Iam working on the kuka Robot for the first time ,please excuse me if its a dumb question.

    Robot - KR210 R2700

    Version - KS V8.6.411

    Controller - KRC4

we got this robot from our customer which was running before and we are using it for another project.

    When I powered it up,

" Emergency stop only local " showed up in a red box. There is only one emergency stop which is in Teach Pendant and it is released.

When I pressed the double arrow mark, a pop up showed up saying "Connection to controller is up and Running".

When I pressed the option near to it , a pop up showed up saying " Safety is up and Running".

But we are not connected any safety PLC yet to the Robot. So is there any chance to temporarily disable this option ?

    Thank you

that message shows up when one is using Startup Mode (IBN).

normally safety is integrated so all devices in the cell are tied into one safety system.

pressing EStop by conveyor, or by HMI, or by cell door or on the robot stops everything (conveyor, robot... whatever...).

but... once you use Startup Mode on the robot, you are isolating robot from the rest of the system.

Startup Mode is only meant for startup tests and troubleshooting. and when the robot is isolated from the rest of the system, ANY estop will only have local effect:

EStop on the robot will only have an effect on the robot.

Estops elsewhere in the cell (if still working) such as by the conveyor or cell door or by conveyor etc. will only have an effect on the equipment that is still part of the cell (the rest of the system, but not the robot).

if you are using smartPad while robot is in Startup Mode, and someone else is pinned or stuck in other piece of equipment (press/conveyor/turntable... whatever), then pressing EStop on the robot side will not have no effect on it. you will not be able to help by pressing your local EStop. just as they would not be able to help you with pressing EStops around the cell if you get pinned by the robot.

that is precisely what the message is telling you. it does not prevent you from using the robot. it simply informs you that you better be extra careful... because YOU are about to do something dangerous and YOU will be liable for any injuries/damage.

and i am not sure how is that not obvious. if you do not understand that message, you should not be the one allowed anywhere near the robot, much less be the that is using startup mode...

you want to bypass safety by using Startup Mode? fine...

but you also want to hide relevant safety messages?:fearful_face::fearful_face::fearful_face::fearful_face:

someone should be calling security or police to remove you from premisses immediately... you should only be allowed back after proper training, when you are not danger to yourself and others.

    Hi panic mode,
thanks for the reply. The robot is not in a cell. I just powered up and sitting in an open area , no equipment or robots near by. The robot is not in IBN mode, I just powered it up and IBN option is not shown in the task bar.

if the robot is in IBN mode, it should split the screen above the T1 right ?

Sorry my bad , I just want to move the robot and do the mastering that's why I asked on how to disable the safety configuration. Just like in fanuc, that we can bypass the CIP safety to move the robot before plc is configured.

I dont want to hide any safety relevant messages.

when robot is not integrated into cell it is most dangerous because all constraints are off. that is what you have. and bypassing safety is possible by using StartUp Mode. this allows you to move the robot (in T1 only) and do basic commissioning tasks:

orient robot correctly so that robot axes can moved, mastered if necessary, flange accessed and positioned correctly so that tool can be attached...

to move robot without any external safety:

    1. unplug safety interface (normally only needed on KSS 8.2 or if safety interface is network type)

    2. change mode to T1

    3. login as Expert or higher

    4. activate StartUp Mode. T1 indicator are will be split and shown IBN/T1 where IBN is flashing.

    5. make sure EStop is not pressed and messages are cleared

    6. use enabling switch to enable drives. "I" in SIR should light up green.

    7. jog using whatever coordinate system you like. if robot needs mastering, you can only jog in axis specific mode.
