Just wondering if anyone have CS Configurator version 4 working on Windows 11?

It seems to have an issue installing the Microsoft SQL server compact version 4. Even downloading and installing the Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0 separately from Microsoft it still causes the following when running CS Configurator version 4 where the buttons are missing.

Currently the workaround is to install CS Configurator version 4 on a Windows 7 or Windows 10 on a Virtual Machine and then it works fine but it would be nice if someone has a solution to make it run on on Windows 11 so that we can run it on our host machine like CS Configurator Version 3.

I don't have that version or use Windows 11......
Only thing I can suggest is that have you 'unblocked' the zip file from within windows security as I'm aware of issues with KRoset when this 'unblock' is not carried out before extracting and it may also be relevant with CS Configurator too.

    Might have a potential solution.

After installing and uninstalling CS configurators about 20 times and trying different things I finally managed to get it working.

The problem is since I've tried so many things I'm not sure exactly which actions resulted in the successful outcome.

What I do know is my last set of actions were:

Uninstall CS configurator (for the 20th time)

Install Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0 i downloaded from Microsoft and ran the Repair option.

    Rebooted PC.

Used the suggestion from kwakisaki to mark the Zip file as Unblocked and extracted it again.

Ran the setup.exe in Compatibility mode for Windows 8, Cancelled when it said it failed installing Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0

Ran the setup.exe in Compatibility mode for Windows 7, Cancelled when it said it failed installing Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0

Finally Ran the setup.exe in Compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2, Which doesn't even attempt to install Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0 And finally when I opened CS Configurator it is working normally.

    Solution:

The main conclusions are that using the Unblock method of the security setting of the zip file prior to extraction were the main contributing factors to it finally working.

Good to hear you've managed to get it working, but very surprised to hear you've had to shoehorn it in like that.

Certainly a question to fire over to Kawasaki I think as earlier versions didn't have any requirement of using XP compatibility mode and if that is a factor, then they have gone backwards in terms of development.

Any chance you can grab another machine with Windows 11 where no previous Kawasaki installations were made and just use the 'unblock' method and see what results you get then as from what I know, this is all that is required and then maybe allow the digital signature for the USB driver....

Yeah, so we Installed CS configurator onto a new laptop with windows 11 with no prior installs as a test. After copying the Zip file off the server that has the security restriction already unblocked and installing it normally it worked without any issues. Also since the new driver has been signed you can just right click and install it without having to reboot into advanced mode and disable the device drive signing like we had to do in the past.

The thing that got me is that there was no prompt or reason to go into the security settings and unblock the zip file as you can extract it normally without any issues but then the setup.exe won't function properly as we found out.

kwakisaki May I ask where you got that pdf of the security notice from, as i didn't see it on the download centre? I made a copy of it and put it as a readme inside the CS configurator zip file in an attempt limit future issues when I distribute the new copy to other employees.

Thank you for trying that and feeding back the results and also regarding the driver.

I got the pdf from the Kawasaki download centre with the CS Configurator download, but at the moment I cannot see any CS Configurator download available (that's why I haven't got that version) so it seems they have pulled CS Configurator from the site for some reason.

However, they still have KRoset available as a download and they do have that notice still available there relating to KRoset.

I'm not a PC guy, so I cannot say how/why this security measure works, I just know that the latest version of KRoset they have posted, does require that security 'unblock' on my Windows 10 machine and also the CS Configurator version I use required it also or else the application(s) would not operate correctly.

Just reminded me actually, a guy posted an issue with KRoset and that security block could be there issue with KRoset too.

Interesting, CS configurator is still available for me on the download centre and that's where I recently downloaded it. The only reason we're upgrading to the new version is because one of the newer robots we have isn't supported by version 3 as the robot model is missing.

You'll note CS configurator doesn't have the same note regarding the security unblock.

To find it go to software, then tool and it's on the second page.

Ah, I got it now, it's been that long I'd forgotten that the 'search' is not 100% across the download centre and you have to be in specific sections to get successful search results.

    Cheers for that buddy...........:top:

Yes, they have excluded the document in this version zip.
I looked back in my earlier downloads and that document appears in the download zip for:
    4.01.00.20
    4.01.00.21

No worries, glad to help. I'll admit it took me a while to find after not finding it in the search either.

Interesting, I missed those version since unless there's a reason to upgrade to the latest version. Why fix what ain't broke. That and when looking under the normal software locations I just didn't see it, so I was never tempted to download it and upgrade.
