Trying to do 6 month image backups. Put my USB in UD1. Try to pull image backup and it only gives me the option for MC: memory card. When I do just “all of the above” for robot files they go to the thumb drive, but the image will not let me choose UD1.

    What is your controller version?

Check out the Fanuc position converter I wrote here! Now open source!

Check out my example Fanuc Ethernet/IP Explicit Messaging program here!

Image backups weren't supported over USB until the R-30iB controller.

I'll still use a memory card over USB whenever I can't use FTP, unless it's only a file or two. I've had WAY too many issues with USB, even when using the memory sticks that come from Fanuc.

As long as you have an image there really isn't a need to ever take another unless you do something like add an option. If you need to do a restore you can just put in an old image and then immediately put an AOTA to get up to date programs.

While there might not be a need to take another image unless you add an option or change a system variable, what would you rather load: an image from this year, or one taken 5 years ago?

I take an image backup and a copy backup at the beginning of each year, cheap insurance is the way I look at it.

It's always the robots fault, just ask management!

Robots are always the solution, just ask management!
