Have you looked at the information for SET_STR_REG or SET_REAL_FLAG?

Your state variable should give you what you want.

Syntax: SET_REAL_REG(register_no, real_value, status)

[in] register_no : INTEGER

[in] real_value : REAL

[out] status : INTEGER

Status explains the status of the attempted operation. If not equal to 0, then an error occurred.
