    Hi,

I have a robot that is suppose to be an IRB6700-200/2.6 but on it is marked IRC6700-200/2.6. That is, as far as I know, not an existing model. Not a single hit on google either. It has an IRC5 controller.

Does anyone know if ABB just had a bad batch of etiquettes or if there is a deeper meaning?

I have never heard of that. But the IRB 6700-200/2.60 is an existing model. Could you send some pictures of the lables, type plate, etc.?

I could not find any reference to such in the product manual, I was thinking maybe there is a variant type C. So I opened RS and began building a new system until I got to select the robot type. This is what I have available:

    Probably a fat finger typo.

That what I think too. Cause the robot looks like an IRB 6700 and that is what we're supposed to have bough. If I could connect to it I would know for sure.

Well, nothing to do. I'll take the surprise once it gets deployed.

I would also go for the typo. Or is it a special customer? Did you already contact ABB for clarification?

 ....no... but that would normally be the first thing to do...

I also vote for a mistype by the the person creating the label. The next (or previous) label was for the controller that could have an IRC5 back in 2017. This appears to be a one-off as any series changes would have had marketing or bulletins show up in a search.

The meaning of IRB/IRC was pondered in forum thread IRB STANDS FOR WHAT IN IRB 360 ?? a few years ago.

Thanks for the link. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the IRC5.

I got an answer from my contact in ABB (sales engineer). He thinks it just an error in the etiquette but he have lifted the question. I'll let you guys know when I get an answer.
