    I was watching this video

the other day and thinking of getting a few wlkata mirobots. Any idea how they are controlling this assembly line? Their customer support is pretty bad so I was thinking of asking here. Is PLC a must to control multiple robots like this?

Wouldn't trust a company that creates a commercial where a robot is welding on a car body with assembled wheels. :yessir:

On lines similar to that video (except mixing up car shell and assmbly) there always at least on plc is used. It may be possible to control it only with robot controllers, but not usual.

Having had one, I wouldn't touch WLKATA with a ten-meter pole. A ten-meter cattle prod, maybe. Or a 10-meter spar torpedo....

For toy robots like this, your "PLC" could be an Arduino or something similar. Since those particular robots are, AFAIK, all controlled from a PC app, I imagine that the coordination is just built into the PC-side program. So this setup is probably more like having one controller with multiple arms attached, unlike the typical industrial setup where every arm has its own controller.

why are toy videos in industrial robot forum?

    1) read pinned topic: READ FIRST...

    2) if you have an issue with robot, post question in the correct forum section... do NOT contact me directly

    3) read 1 and 2
