Monitoring variables to External File

    We are using a KUKA KR20 robot with a pellet extruder as a Large Scale AM setup.

    In a further stadium we want to monitor specific variables (position, temperature, speed etc...).

    Is there a way to write this variables to a text file every 0,1 second or something in that order?

    And one step further, is there a way to send this variables live to an external server?

    sure... plenty of examples are on this forum. reading/writing text files is done with CWRITE.

    having values shown elsewhere is also not a problem. KUKA has option package called Ethernet KRL just for things like this.

    there are also alternatives (not from KUKA) like
    KVP (KUKA VAR PROXY)
    C3B (C3 Bridge)
    KVP for KRC4 (that is just a name, works on KRC4 and KRC5 too)

    Controller model? KSS version? KOP installed? These details are needed in order to answer your questions accurately.

    Assuming your KRC runs KSS 8, writing to a text file is fairly easy. For KSS versions before 8, I don't beleive it's possible -- at least, not without some serious hacking. Writing to a text file every 100ms should be entirely possible, but would most likely require using the SPS on a timing loop.

    To transmit variables will require an add-on option. Either EKI from KUKA (a paid option), or one of the 3rd-party unsupported options that Panic Mode listed.

    SkyeFire does the logging in the SPS potentially cause pauses or memory issues in the controller? (we are using a KRC4 and KSS 8.6 with MxA 3.3)

    My team and I are looking to monitor an analog signal, along with position of the robot using CWRITE in line with the points given. This causes issues if a smooth motion is wanted!

    Is there a suggestion you can make on the code we would use to perform a timed logging?

    I have used KUKAVARPROXY as advised by panic mode
    On a raspberry pi connected to the controller I'm running a python script that is reading some variables every 0,1 second. That data is then send to an InfluxDB.
    Maybe this also works for you!
