Need help making virtual I/O device

I'm trying to make a virtual device to map my I/O. RS tells me the parameter is read-only; I cannot change the name, input size, output size, etc. How can I circumvent this?

Because I want to map to specific device numbers. Without a device to assign my signals to I can't do this.
