    Hello,

I'm having an issue importing my AutoCAD file into my roboguide cell. I'm trying to import floor plans so I can have everything in my cell at the correct location. The AutoCAD file is originally a dwg file, I saved the file as an igs to import it into roboguide. Upon importing it in roboguide it does import everything I was hoping too.

Hi, I only use .STL files for 3D import.

I have tried saving it as a .stl file but it gives me the same as the .igs, it is also only a 2d layout that im trying to get into roboguide.

I've never imported 2D and now I was looking at the tutorial from roboguide and I didn't see an option to upload a 2D file anywhere.
You will probably have to do it only through 3D.

I've tried the 3d way to import it and it gives me the same thing, very little data once I have it in roboguide. do I need to add height to it in AutoCAD for it to import correctly?

Yes, I meant that you add some small height to 2D, for example 5mm, to make it 3D and you can upload it.

I tried saving it as a stl with some height but when trying to export it from AutoCAD is filters out my selected area.

I would save it out as an image, then apply the image to a face of an appropriately sized box.

Check out the Fanuc position converter I wrote here! Now open source!

What do you mean by 'everything', how do you create 'everything' ?

Normal procedure is to create everything as 3d in AutoCAD, export it as stl, igs or whatever you can import in Roboguide, everything in respect to the same reference point. Then import it to Roboguide, set the origin of 'everything' to 0,0,0. Doing it this way you have 'everything' in the right place.

when I say everything, I am refiring to all of the physical things in my cell such as my robot stand, two conveyors and pallets on the conveyor. the layout of the plant was given to me in a 2D model in AutoCAD, and my conveyors were given to me as a 3d model. I currently have all the 3D models imported to my roboguide cell, I just need the layout to confirm everything is the correct position.

As described: import everything in AutoCAD, move everything to the right place, export everything as 3d in respect to the same reference point, import to Roboguide, set origin to 0,0,0 and you are done.

I usually convert to .dxf when working with AutoCAD because it is an acceptable file format in RG.
