In my opinion Python is a great language to learn.

You can use it for ROS, machine learning and vision and is a good starting point.

I was thinking more of another robot language:)

What other robot language would you recommend trying to learn, as a l more general use language?

There is no general used robot language for industrial robots. Every brand has it's own language. So it doesn't make much sense to learn one without a plan what you want to with it in future.

hermann is correct. Each language is brand-specific, with a few exceptions.

URs have their own language, but also accept scripting in Python (to a degree).

The Sunrise OS for newer KUKAs can be purchased to be programmed in Java (not Javascript) instead of KRL, but those are still rather rare yet.

But some Cobot/Robots are programmable with Python trough ROS or ROS2.

UR, IGUS and more and unofficialy ABB and KUKA.

Doosan is even based on python but then you would have to use a Cobot.

You could also use C++ in combination with ROS.

AI will replace programming languages soon, humanoid robots coming that will replace a number of industrial robotic applications. Robot Revolution is very near.

AI has made nearly 0 progress in manufacturing applications from what I have seen. Machine vision inspection seems the most promising so far.
