Grab the Tooling in Roboguide

  • Hi there,

I am wondering why I cant grab the tooling and move the robot arround in Roboguide.

As i try to select the tooling and try to move it, the tooling will move but the robot stand still and the attachment to the robot is missing.

Also the green spot for the Utool point is only visible as I try to edit the Utool point of the selected tool.

Please let me know what I am missing and thanks in forward.

  • Hi,

You're probably grabbing the tool model (the CAD) rather than the TCP.

First off, when you are done with positioning ANY CAD-model in Roboguide (such as the tool model or a fixture), make sure to check the box "Lock all location values":

This will prevent you from accidentally repositioning the CAD-models.

Next, make sure that the "Teach Tool" (the green sphere) is visible (this is in the property window of the robot):

Here, you can also change the size of the green sphere to make it easier to "grab" it.

Also, there is a button in the toolbar in Roboguide that looks like a green coordinate system with a padlock at the bottom right:

This button will select the Teach Tool (and while this button is toggled ON it will prevent you from selecting anything else in the workcell).
This button can be useful if your robot's TCP is inside of a box/container or a machine or similar where you cannot "grab" it without accidentally selecting another object/CAD-model in your workcell.

  • Hi GPUNKT,

Thank you so much for your help. It was just what I needed. You deserve my fully respect.

Thanks and wish you a great day.

    :)
