What is it storage capacity?
I had problems trying to perform backups on USB sticks in the past, and some rules of thumb:
1) NTFS formatted devices sometimes have problems.
2) the smaller is the capacity of the stick, the better it will work.
3) sometimes is good use the format device option on FILE screen. So, try to format the USB stick on controller itself
In the case of the RJ3 robot, I think it is showing the last valid accessed device, not Your device.

Estou enfrentando um problema ao fazer backup do meu robô fanuc r30ia.
Quando começo a fazer backup da imagem do robô aparece "ERROR: FROM READ C/H/S=5/3/1".
Verifiquei com cartão flash e pendrive também.
Também verificado em partida de controle e partida de colt.
Por favor, diga-me do que se trata esse erro.

Parece ser erro de leitura, verifica formatar o pendrive pelo controlador do Robô antes de iniciar o backup.

IME, you want to memory card formatted fat16/32, you'll get disk error if you try to write to an NTFS volume. Also make sure it's MBR not GPT partitioned.
The error you are getting is actually regarding the logic block, it's using the older hard drive terminology (Cylinder, Head, Sectors). So the card needs to report back proper LBA/CHS not the gibberish that some modern large flash drives do.

I'm not sure if the vintage of robot applies to whether the option is available, but you can do a tftp image backup. You just need to download a free tftp app.
