Arm type and controller mismatch, VP-6242 with RC7M-VSG6BA-CP

  • Hi,

    I have a question regarding running an VPG arm type with VSG controller. Is that possible? VSG has a higher power output and the same amount of axis (6) but obviously the arm type is different. Does someone have an experience with that?

    To answer my own question. The IPM boards have to match and the ROM has to be updated for the given robot types. The document attached to this article describes the process.

    That is true. I have an RC7M (specifically RC7M-VSG6BA-CP) controller with IPM boards for one of the Denso VSG arms and I reconfigured it to work with the VPG (VP-6242E/GM) arm by swapping some of the boards to have the SS boards in all slots. Now I am facing another problem because I am not sure (and I could not find it anywhere) what is the pinout of the motor/encoder connector of the RC7M and the pinout of the connector in the base of the arm (CN22 connector)?

    Ideally if someone had an electrical drawings I would be immensely grateful.

    I'm sorry to tell you that I don't have documentation for the robot you want to adapt.

    However, I have seen that the base connector is the same on both VSG and VPG robots.

    If you have already managed to select the type of robot in the controller and have also placed the appropriate IPM boards, why do you want to change the wiring of the CN22?

    The best thing would be to have both robots to check the correspondence of resistances and continuity in each of the pins of both robots. Is that possible?

    I'm not 100% sure, but I think nothing needs to be changed; Simply connect the robot to the controller and try.

    Thanks for the tip. The problem is I dont have the cables. I have just the robot and the controller and the cable is missing so I want to wire it on my own. I reversed engineered most of the pins but I am still unsure about a couple of them.
