    Hi all,

I want to send triggers to keyence's vision controller (XG-X series) from my fanuc robot controller (R-30iB Plus) and also receive OK/NG result data from said vision controller. I've done this with the 3D vision controller (CV-X series) using keyence provided .pc program, downloaded from keyence website but couldn't find the 2D vision version solution for it. Does anybody have experience regarding direct connection between XG-X and R-30iB Plus without using PLC? I'm new to the robot world and hoping for some guidance.

I do not but I would recommend running it in a plc doing ladder logic there to have a good or bad signal and then send it to the robot . Because knowing Fanuc you will need to spend another $4000 to be able to do this.

Keyence tech support doesn't have anything? I would imagine that they would normally have at least example programs for each of their products.

What kind of connection is this vision system using?

Looks like the XG-X series controller supports most of the common industrial communication standards like Ethernet/IP, Profinet, RS232, Ethernet TCP/IP, hardwire IO, and more. You should be able to communicate with it from any R30iB plus using hardwire IO or TCP/IP. However if you have a fieldbus option like Ethernet IP already on the controller that would likely be easiest to set up.

I think the user manual is free from the keyence website if you make an account.

I'm using Ethernet/IP for both 2D&3D systems via hub. I contacted Keyence tech support. Turns out the sample .pc program for both systems are the same, and I could just use arguments for each .pc program to change between clients. ( which was not stated in the Keyence website's free user manual ). Anyway, the system's running fine now.
