So, I'm about to go to a customer site to install a PAC code for a new option they've ordered. But it turns out, no one knows where the original core-load USB stick is (they're still looking). Now, as I understand it, activating a new PAC code requires having the original core-load USB in UD1. If the original USB (or copy of) cannot be found, what are my options? Am I stuck asking Fanuc for a fresh copy of the original core-load?

Yes, you need it. Contact Fanuc asap. They will burn a new USB drive for you for a fee, but it can take a few days. If you need it quickly for your trip then make sure they know it is urgent.

I --think-- it might be possible with an auto update USB. Long shot, but worth a try if you don't have the original USB media.

Check out the Fanuc position converter I wrote here! Now open source!

Check out my example Fanuc Ethernet/IP Explicit Messaging program here!

Well, the good news is, the customer found the original core-load USB. So I dodged that bullet.

For future knowledge, what's an auto-update USB?

Just the auto update from Fanuc on a USB drive.

Which may just be available for free to download by registered users

Ah! Hmm... I've never encountered this. But that could be VERY handy. Thanks, all, I'll look into it.

    The same situation here..

    Mine controller is r-i30b V8.30p/20

and i don't have the original installation usb

    but i have V8.30P71_Auto_Update.

Can install from this auto update?

    --update--

    I have installed V8.30P71_Auto_Update

and after that i have installed some free options so i supose that from auto update

can install software options without original installation usb.
