Kawasaki + Cognex vision setup

    Hi all,

    I have a task to set up a Kawasaki RS005N robot (F60 controller) with a fixed Cognex7802 2D camera. I had a lot of projects with Yaskawa robots using Cognex with In-Sight Explorer, and we want to have the same setup with Kawasaki. I have been looking for manuals on this topic, but could not find any clear step-by-step instructions. If somebody has any info about that or has experience with the Kawasaki-Cognex setup, please share it. We also have a few Keyence cameras which we can use, but I don't have any experience with them. I've tried to reach out to a Kawasaki representative, but haven't heard anything for like a month. Sorry if there is a thread about this already, I just cannot find anything.

    Are you talking directly to the controller? I just did this, but we passed the camera coordinates through the PLC, since it was reading a barcode off of the product as well.

    So I'm not really sure how it is done in Kawasaki, but in Yaskawa robots, they have MotoSight 2D software built in, which helps to communicate with the camera directly (in Online mode). There is K-VFinder for Kawasaki, but there are no clear instructions how to actually use it.

    Can you describe the steps you did to make the robot and camera work with a PLC? We might try to test it on our setup.

    Check with Cognex. They offer an AS Language template file and PDF instructions for Cognex to Kawa communications.
