    Hello everyone,

    I am using kuka KRC2 ed05, KR-150 with version of V5.4.14,

This morning, when I have powered on the robot, It started to showing error as Motor cable A5. I have checked, disconnected and connected back all power and encoder connections. After that it was ok for sometime and it went into same error automatically without doing anything.

It was running ok till last week, the only change we had, fitted a new gripper to the end of arm and I did not updated that dimensions and weight to the tool.

Can anyone kindly suggest what can be done further.

    Thanks in Advance

    Advmin.

what is the message exactly? please post screenshot of the message.

is it always complaining about the same axis?

yes, it is always complaining about the same axis.

I have tried to attach the images, unfortunately I couldn't find the option for attachment.

    Hai aknezevi.proton,

many thanks for your reply, unfortunately I really struggle to insert an image. I saw this icon before, but when I click there it is showing to add source and link. How to do that? do we need to add a browser link?

    Many Thanks

what happens if you have motor cable disconnected from drive? it is the big black connector on the bottom side of the drive. that would ensure that NO current goes from A5 drive to cable or A5 motor while drive is still part of the bus.

do you still get overtemperature or cable alarm for A5? does the drive temperature stay low (room temperature)? because if not drive is likely bad. even so, that may not be a root problem, maybe is result of damaged cable or motor, so those would still need to be checked as well.

as for inserting images into the post, not sure how that works for you but i open image in some image viewer or editor, crop part i am interested in (optional), use copy (Ctrl+C) ,then click into open robot forum post and use Paste (Ctrl+V). voila. for new members there is a limit of one picture per post. not sure why is that but regardless one can use some workaround. simply reply to your own thread and past another image, or compose several images into one, then post it, or paste several images into word or excel file then print it as PDF or... ... ...

Many Thanks for your Reply Panic Mode,

    1. I have disconnected the the black connector on the bottom side of A5 drive, still I get the Heat sink temperature A5 error.

2.Yes, the drive temperature stayed low for last few days.

3.I have swapped the encoder and power cables from A4 to A5 and A5 to A4 on the motor side, still A5 driver is in error and A4 is ok. Which ensured A5 motor is working fine.

I have an another robot with same drive which is in good condition, I would like to replace the drive from other robot. What are the procedure for that? I know how to do the hardware replacement but after that what should be done,do we need to configure the new drive ? what are the steps for that?

    Thanks in Advance

    power off

    unplug cables from KSD

use screwdriver to unlock KSD and extract it.

then install same model (just reverse process) and then powerup. no configuration is needed.

    Hai Panic mode,

Thanks for your valuable help, I have replaced the drive from other robot and all problems are fixed. :applaus:

When I checked in the DSE screen, The Hardware version of new A5 drive is showing as 'Control card 'E' power card '3' . Where the Hardware version of old A5 drive was

'Control card 'C' Power card '3', Is that going to be a problem in the future?
