Hi,
I'm doing some milling with external tools and it works great. I chose this setup because adding a 7th axis to my controller is beyond my budget for now. However, with a rotary table it's common to do rotary finishing with a spiral toolpath (the workpiece is continuously rotating so there are no overlaps or edges). This is currently not possible with a workhold setup like mine since the 6th axis is limited to about +- 300 degrees.
Instagram users can see video here:
I believe someone once told me that the A6 limit can be disabled in the configuration. Is this true? I am aware that I would have to "spin the motor back" afterwards, but is there anything in the motor that can be damaged if I set the limit to a million degrees? If it is safe, how is it done?
My system is a 6400RF with an IRC5 M2004 controller.
I appreciate any advice,
Joakim
