artbyrobot Hey, been following your work for some months now, great work!
Just wanted to post some "tips" for you.
QuoteTurned out when it bent to 90 degrees it would not return to straight again. I thought spring wire would but this stuff didn't. This is not what chatgpt said would happen so chatgpt failed me this time.
Springs arent designed to be bent to such angles, even a 45° angle will reduce its life span.
You need to look at Plastic and Elastic deformation graphs of used spring. Once the spring reches the point of Plastic deformation it wont "retract" to its normal form anymore as the material is Plasticly deformed. You need to be staying in the Elastic Area of the graph.
Also a thing to think about with spring usage is their lifespan. They will loose elasticity over time and with it the force they pull, so you might need to be changing those springs on a regular basis.
It would be wise to do some tests of how many streches the spring can take before it starts to deform.
Springs also arent meant to be streched out for prolonged periods or they will loose tension strength.
Keep up the good work !
