    Hello,

Today I recived the Office lite 8.7 USB stick, (V8.7.3.OL_Build442).

Inside I only had a virtual hard dics with .vhdx extention. I did manage to use Hyper-V to start it but the question for FLEXnet License Finder did not popup on the screen, the SmartKRC started to execute but got stuck on "Waiting for KRC Connection ...", I'm aware that it will not work if I don't add the license file there but the there is no License Finder program on the virtual machine. I got the .lic file installed in the license server but I don't have any way to chose it from the Virtual Machine. Did someone had a problem like this? (i already wrote email to KUKA).

PS: I had issues with Hyper-V bridge for the internet acces for Virtual Machine so I also tryed to make a conversion to VMware file and it succeed and I got the internet access there but the issue that the License Finder is not showing is the same here also. (the startkrc also get stuck on "Waiting for KRC Connection ...".

licensing tool is located in C:\KRC\UTIL\FLEXLM

if you have a node locked license file, you need to paste it into VM, run LMTOOLS and elect file (menu File, Service/LicenseFile>Browse)

in the delivery with the stick containing the hyper-v image came a note that i atleast found helpful. I struggled to get the license working from officelite to an external license server working over any type of connection (wired, wlan, vpn, etc) so I settled on using it standalone. This note along with the documentation for officelite should make it fairly straightforward.

I already have done this proces with lmtools.exe on the license server, sended the .txt file and recived the .lic file, and uploaded it on my license server without any errors. The issue is how should now I chose server that the license should be checked on? There is no License Finder on the VM , the LMTOOLS only allowes me to upload a file and not to chose an license server

is your server running? lmtools has bunch of tabs to configure and check server connection. there is also document that goes over this:

    C:\KRC\UTIL\FLEXLM\DOC\FlexNet Publisher - License Administration Guide.pdf

    have fun

The server is running and I can ping it from the cmd command. The problem is that on VM the LMTOOLS is lets say a "License server side" of the Licensing, and on the server side everything is configured on the licence PC. At the VM i would need a place to connect to the license server that is normally done by FLEXnet License Finder but this program is nowhere on VM and its not starting when I start the krcstart.exe

PS: I did look for solution in this 200+ pages manual :grinning_squinting_face:

    Hello,

the message "Waiting for KRC Connection ..." after start of krc_start.exe is very often due to a bad performance of the computer. Check 1. that the computer fills the requirements for OfficeLite, 2. that the computer doesn't run in battery mode, 3. that the computer doesn't run in energy save mode, 4. close all unnecessary applications on your computer. This very often helps. Good luck.

The prompt for the license only appears if the operating system and the SmartHMI is fully started.

ask KUKA, it is their product and only KUKA is authorized to sell it / license it.

cost for usb stick is peanuts - that is just the medium on which the software is delivered these days.

the license is the thing that really costs and for what it does, i think it is very reasonably priced. the ballpark is some $1500-2000 or so i have been told.
