the very same way it is done on the robot...

    1. make backup (always)

    2. get compatible KSS upgrade (or downgrade) in suitable form. usually this is ZIP file with very long name.

    3. extract content to some place robot can access. USB stick (not recovery stick) is ok but way too slow because of countless small files. USB attached hdd is better. dumping extracted contents into a robot folder on D:\ using network is even better, for example D:\new_kss

    4. login

    5. setup "network path" (even if it is local) to the installation folder such as D:\new_kss using menu Start-up>Additional software>New Software>Configure>click on KRC update field>Path Selection...

    6. run the installation using menu Start-Up>Software update>Net

if you are extracting content of the ZIP file to a blank USB stick, you can also use option "Automatic" instead of "Net". I like Net because i get to tell it exact path where it is installing from so my files can be.

    btw. installation process will

    a) remove all options,

    b) replace content of the D:\KRC_Release

    c) install new KSS (or at least try)

    d) install all options

so you better make sure that your D:\KUKA_OPT does contain all of the options. sometimes they are not present - usually user negligence or sometimes possibly due size? (Zenon, VisionTech etc)

StarBucks, Dunkin Donuts or HomeDepot come to mind...

seriously though, where do you think you can get proprietary and copyrighted software?

you need to get it from the MANUFACTURER....

and the manufacturer that created KSS is...???

I thought that is somewhere on the hard disk ;/

Do I need to write an email to them or can I download it from their website? Is it free?

I have a real robot ofc.

    what...!? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

so you think that all software is already written and on your HDD just waiting for you to select whihc one you want? or you think that someone is doing scheduled release or unlocking?

are there any other upgrades (windows etc.) already on your computer?

none of the above... upgrades are all developed at a later time and hence must be downloaded later, long after software you are using now is installed.

btw. KSS upgrade is pretty large. single ZIP file is some 1.2 - 1.6Gb or so. it is basically entire KSS with all cumulative upgrades available to that point. and some KSS versions have 40-50 releases.

all of this was discussed before, feel free to read pinned topic READ FIRST

Why all software? Only that version which is already installed on my robot.

sorry, i guess i may be missing something....

so you want to upgrade the already installed KSS release to that same already installed KSS release? that is not an upgrade. upgrade is moving to a higher version.

KSS8.6.5 and 8.6.7 are two different releases.

the first two numbers (the "8.6" part) represent major version.

next number is a minor version,

the fourth number (usually omitted) is the service pack or hotfix version

one major version can have many releases (50 or so in case of KSS8.3 for example and 30 or so in case of KSS8.2)

when you robot was sold, KSS 8.6.5 was available. there was no KSS8.6.7 at that time so KSS8.6.7 does not exist on your HDD/SSD yet. you need to get it from KUKA.

and since the major version is the same, both releases are supported by the same license (read the license sticker in your cabinet - it will say KSS8.6, not KSS8.6.5). therefore upgrade/downgrade to a different KSS release within same major version are free - as long as you perform them yourself. you just need to get in touch with your local KUKA rep and ask for upgrade and provide info supporting that you have license.

if you read READ FIRST, you would know all that.

    Ehh.... ;/

My KUKA robot is 8.6.8, but my OffliceLite is 8.6.7. I would like to update my OL to the robot's kss version.

then you can take the content of D:\KRC_Release from the robot itself and proceed as explained before

Are you trying to run setup while the system is running?
