Kuka KRC2 ed05 LeaseTime and Lock issue

  • Hi,

I have a client KRC2 ed05 running KSS 5.4.11. I have re-installed the KSS from the D:ISO to what I believe are the default settings.

For some reason the LeaseTime options that I have in the KRC/HMI/Config/Authentication.config file are not working.

It's as if the Authentication.config file is not being addressed.

    Observation of tests:

I change the <CanLockSystem>false</CanLockSystem> to true (which should lock the screen after the Lease Time) and then try out the below and then change the <CanLockSystem>false</CanLockSystem> to false (which should allow the HMI to revert to the Default user after the Lease Time).

I do a cold start after each change.

If after each boot I login as Expert and wait the desired time (120 Seconds) there is no change if I change the mode switch on the teach pendant or if I wait more than 2 minutes (120S).

I have attached the Authentication.config file for reference.

    Am I missing something.

  • you may want to use original version and make one change at a time.

also when sharing file, it would be better to post the actual file (as is), than to convert it to PDF etc. this prevents direct file comparison using software tools like BeyondCompare or WinMerge. this means higher likelihood to miss some detail (formatting or whatever).

converting PDF back to text means loosing formatting.

also plain text format is also preferred for security reasons. not everyone is willing to open document like PDF unless it comes from reputable source.

btw, it is a really good idea to not change file structure or formatting. many files on the robot will not work if new line is added, removed, moved or if one line is broken into two etc. not sure if KSS 5.x is able to digest file you created.

and what is it you are expecting to happen?

if you expect system to react to name of the current user (Expert) and do something (logout), what is the reasoning to for example comment out authentication that looks at user name?

    1) read pinned topic: READ FIRST...

    2) if you have an issue with robot, post question in the correct forum section... do NOT contact me directly

    3) read 1 and 2

  • Thanks Panic Mode,

I got a bit distracted and now having revisited this topic I see that KSS 5.4.11 does not use the Authentication.config file and that - in essence - while I can add an operator with lower than user privileges there are many places where the 'user' account = 'default' and cannot 'go lower'. Even when using the KRC Configurator there were limitations. Anyhow I have found a work around for the customer so all is good. Thanks Everyone.
