What do you recommend?

KSS uses two operating systems. Windows is used for GUI. vxWorks is used for real time tasks. basically everything other than visualization runs in vxWorks...
if system is corrupt or vxWorks does not start, you may see messagage like that. In case of OL, one of reasons for that could be that license is not found or it is not valid. as usual, good backup will normally solve this.

Are you talking about "Office PC" or "OfficeLite"?
OfficeLite does not have a physical Smartpad!

The latest vmware version properly working with the OL 8.2, 8.3 and 8.5 is 15.1
