I've recently been tasked with working with a R-30iB Plus Fanuc controller. The shop wants the robot to communicate with a foot activated spot welder but I can't seem to find any relevant documentation on local I/O terminals. My question is are there even any local terminals on this controller or is there a separate I/O card we have to purchase and install? Thanks for any help!

There are some (non-safe) IOs available by default that you can use for your purpose. Check the maintenace manual of the R-30iB Plus controller for more information about the local IOs.

There are a some IO on the EE connector located on the shoulder of the robot.
You could run a cable from there otherwise you have to purchase IO cards to mount inside the controller. Another option if you have a comm protocal you can use with a stand alone IO block, such as EthernetIP.
First you need to find out what options have been purchased with this robot.
