    Hi all,

I am using Roboguide (HandlingPRO) v9.x.

So far, I have created workcells, where I only have the robot model that I selected while following the cell-creation-wizard.

Now, I need to add several components to the workcell. These component parts are given as ".igs" files. I have some questions about adding / importing these components / parts to the workcell.

    • on the left side pan in Roboguide, is listed several things such as Machines, Fixtures, Parts, Obstacles, Workers etc. Under which "heading", should I load these components. Does this choice have an effect on the validity of the workcell. I have put the components "Parts -> Add Part -> Single CAD file / Multiple CAD files.
    • the orientation of the loaded component does not appear right. FIrstly, the loaded component ( a big part representing the floor of the intended / real workcell) cuts through / goes through the grid floor on which appears the robot in Roboguide. How to fix this ? I attach the image.
    • I attach another view which shows the robot in this workcell.

If you can help, in understanding how to adjust and fix the orientation so that, later I can begin to control the robot movement. The robot is supposed to be on the rail which is in the centre of the added components.

greatly thankful for any help / suggestions / guidelines.

    Zahid

    adding further,

this is how appears in Roboguide, We can see, here

    1. the robot that was added while initially creating the workcell using the wizard.
    2. the added components ( the CAD files)

any suggestion how to fix the orientation.

    thanks,

Parts are what the robot works on. They're used for cad-to-path, etc. Fixtures hold parts. As you move fixtures, any parts attached to that fixture also move. All parts in the cell are stored on what's called the Part Rack. This is what you're showing in your screenshots. If you right click on Parts, click part rack properties, and uncheck "visible" the part rack and parts stored on it will go away. Parts have to be on a fixture in order to be useful. If you place your iges file as an obstacle, you can move it around using the triad or direct inputting the XYZWPR values from it's properties menu.

First of all go find out what are machines, parts, obstacles and fixtures.

    Basically,

Part is a item that you want to manipulate somehow. You always have to add it before adding to actual fixture or machine. Also to EOT if neccesary.

Fixture is a static thing like a table. In fixture properties you have to add your part and move it to specific for you location and orientation. Check model cad tab in order to change your part parameters.

Machine is a type of fixture with possibility of making parts moving or fixture elements itself (like CNC door or axis).

Obstacles (im not sure) but are used to place for example fences.

Every changes must be done in item parameters as well as adding part to fixture or machine.

Really - go find some tutorials on yt

You typically place the CAD in areas that make the most sense.

    Ask yourself:

    • Does the CAD need to move around during a sim? Put it in Machines. This is also where you build a 7th axis, and attach the robot to it. The Roboguide Help has a pretty good tutorial on how to do this.
    • Does the CAD hold something the robot will be picking up, or working with? Place it in Fixtures. Fixtures hold Part CAD.
    • Is the CAD something the robot transports around, or does something to (Painting, Deburring, Welding, etc)? Place it into Parts. Parts cannot be placed directly in the cell. They must be attached to fixtures, or the robot's UTOOL.
    • Does the CAD not interact with the process, and just needs to be in there so the robot can avoid it? Place that in Obstacles.

You need to bring your CAD in under something other than the part tree. Like I said above, you can't move parts around directly. Well you kinda can, in a way, but it is not the correct way of doing things.

The fact you brought all the CAD in under Parts is why you can't move them around. Bring them in under Obstacles or Machines.

thank you all for the useful info. I have been away for working on other things. But, I will work on this task and report any issues faced.
