Hello guys,
Has somebody of you ever used the option "TP Disconnect" for a system with multiple controllers?
Does this option support hot swap, to connect and disconnect the TP without causing an E-stop or any other fault?
Regards
Daniel

Got it! There is an additional option called "Teach Pendant Hot Swap" that exactely do the job.
Can you explain how you remove the TP from the connector without showing an E-stop on the rest of the system ? Also, don't you turn the power of the controller to exchange the TP ?
Hi Fabian,
I have never used it before, but I am planning to buy it for a new system. You can find more details about the hot swap functionality and how it works in the DCS manual. I think it is chapter 16 or 17.
I will combine the hot swap option with the option TP Disconnect. The default TP Disconnect option only supports kind of "warm mode" which triggers an E-stop when connecting or disconnecting the TP.
With the Teach Pendant Hot Swap there is an additional push button to bridge the E-Stop for a certain time (I think 20s is the default setting).

And yes, you can use it while auto mode is running and you don't have to power off the controller. I have checked the DCS manual. In my german version it is described in chapter 16.
ok, one of the robots has a pendant, the other has not.
The one without the pendant has a dummy plug with jumper.
The moment you disconnect that dummy plug the jumpers indicate e-stop
Don't you have that problem ?
Correct, one has a TP and the other controller(s) have a jumper plug to bridge the E-stop. With the hot swap option you can avoid E-stops, independet if the TP or the jumper plug will be connected or disconnected.
WOW I'm going to contact our Fanuc rep
Right know on our shop , we are building 4 cells (2 robot, 5 robot, 4 robot, 4 robot) and we have 5 TP
I use the web browser software a lot but many times I need the TP and I kill the whole cell
Thanks for the info
No problem! Also check the DCS manual and search for "hot swap". There you will find more details on how it works plus the difference between the standard TP Disconnect (warm mode) and the hot swap option.
