For the S4C+ controllers, you should replace the battery pack in the lower part of the Computer Unit. Until then, use the shutdown procedure found in the User Manual found >here< on page 12-22.

Backup & Restore start in the section before that on page 12-16.

S4 backup and restore work the same. I assume the 2 controller batteries in the S4C are good or you would also lose system software at power down.

Changed the title of the thread from “how to S4C, S4C backup upload and download?” to “how to S4C, S4C+ backup upload and download?”.
  • For upload, download I can remember an option NFS client for the robots. If they have that option and a network card you can setup a NFS server on your laptop, and load programs over this NFS connection. But setting up the NFS server isn't that easy.

For s4c+, may be a ftp server on the robot was standard.

For the S4C, it needs a DSQC336 Ethernet Board installed and Ethernet Services option along with the NFS server in the laptop/pc.

The S4C+ has the service port ethernet connection. Crossover cable to laptop/pc running Filezilla client.

  • I'm a couple of weeks from an S4C+ and usable non-network laptop but see if this helps:

Just from memory - with Filezilla and the S4C+, I always used 'abb' for User ID and 'abb' for the password but I seem to remember it would accept anything.
