RJ2 Controller FWD/BWD buttons disabled

I purchased a small LR Mate 200i with an RJ2 controller and I cannot figure out how to enable the FWD/BWD buttons as they are disabled. I already went to function screen to try and enable them and this doesn't work. Anyone have any other ideas? Thank you.

So I went to menus/ system/system variable and I couldn't find it or am I in the wrong place?

That was it! Thank you! I didn't see the detail on SCR as i needed to hit enter. I worked on it half the day yesterday trying to figure it out I appreciate the help.
