Epson Scara Robot - How to rotate around a tool center point?

  • I'm pretty new to robot programming but I figure this is possible but I don't know how to do it. I have a tool with an offset from the J4 axis. I want to hold my cylindrical part in the tool and rotate it about the part axis, back and forth 360 degrees. I have defined the tool coordinate system already but I don't know how to rotate about the center of that tool. Does anybody know how? Thanks.

  • No problem. At one time Yaskawa was using Epson robots on their controllers. So I am told. This was about 15 years ago. That is why I asked. I don’t know Epson but I would define a additional tcp where I want the part in the gripper to rotate about.

I know a thing or two, because I’ve seen a thing or two. Don't even ask about a third thing. I won't know it.
