C Series controller issues

  • I have a C series controller and had a question concerning the teach pendant. If I need to unplug the teach pendant do I need to power down the controller panel first or is it ok to unplug the pendant with power on.

  • You should never remove any hardware whilst the Controller is on.

Transients can be introduced and could 'damage' the circuits and as the C Controller is no longer supported regards spare parts, it could turn out you render your Controller inoperable.

Also, you cannot operate the Controller whilst the MFP is disconnected as the Emergency Stop is hardwired back to the Controller and would create a permanent Emergency Stop condition on the Controller.

You can obtain dummy plugs (or jumper the Emergency Stop out - Kawasaki used to supply dummy plugs for this) and operate it without an MFP but you must set the Teach Lock off first and set Aux 91 to disconnect prior to power off and physical disconnection.
