Does anyone have any advice about how to do a risk assessment on a Fanuc mig welding robot with a RJ3 controller?

The unit was bought in 1999 and there was none required by the integrator at that time. Now we must get one done

to comply with our safety program. I have asked the original integrator to do one but they say they are unable to do it to today's standard.

We are very safety driven here and looking for help getting this done.

    HI

I don't know your cell layout but I can tell you :

    1) You should call a risk assessment company to help you officially

    2) That robot does not have the dual safety chain that is require nowadays, That's going to be a big issue to implement a new cell

Sorry, I just read your post again. Your cell is been there since 1999 ? I believe you do not have to update it unless you do a major modification. If your company wants to do it because of their own safety program, they might be opening a can of worms. Get a certify person for the risk assessment

    Retired but still helping

    Good morning

Yes the cell has been there since 1999, there has been no risk assessment ever done on the cell.

Yes it is for our own safety program. Was suggested by our workmans comp consultant.

Original integrator has declined to do one for us even if we paid for it.

If anyone has had to go thru this, any guidance would be greatly helpful.

The Robotic Industries Association set the "standard practices" for safety. Quote because that is verbiage that OSHA uses to enforce safety.

And they're close by in Ann Arbor.

Hopefully this is the dual run-chain R-J3 RIA controller.

If this comes up for anyone in the future, we can help do this quickly in a semi-automated fashion: https://saphira.ai!
