Controlling Fanuc 200iC via iPendant 2005 model

Fanuc Manuals are copyrighted and forbidden to be posted on this forum.

Some of those maybe available with thorough 'net' searches referencing the controller your using.....I suspect R30iA Controller.

I think that is a RJ3iB era controller.

Electronic manuals for that era controller are horrible. Fanuc decided to break the manual into single page .pdfs and then use an active X internet explorer page to act as the "whole" manual. The search function is this terrible javascript thing that never works.

Admittedly, I just did a quick search on the robot model and the R30iA was the top of the search and never looked further.

Since reading your post, I referenced the teach pendant instead and indeed that was flagging up RJ Controllers.

Which poses a quick question for Nation Sir. (don't mean to steer the thread in any other direction, any knowledge is applicable).

Are specific TP's only usable on certain controller types?

ie RJ type only used on RJ types, R30iA for R30iA

There is some wiggle room. I personally have taken a RJ3iB Ipendant and used it on a R30iA controller. The operator had left the R30iA's pendant on a chain conveyor and it got sucked in and destroyed. It just needed a firmware update to work. I would call Fanuc before attempting such swaps though, and I did in that case.

Heehee........yes, I think we all have a story or 2 similar.......I love it when they get left on a press bed.

Kawasaki C Controller TP's had separate firmware that required to be matched to the Controller firmware in order to work (back in the day).

When they moved to D, E and now F, they ditched that and just had them generic with differing keypad overlays.

I've read somewhere with some options on Fanuc, some are controller based and some are TP based, which gives me the impression some TP's would not be interchangeable.

I may email them and see if they have a list available.......and see if I get a reply.

That is one of the nice things about Fanuc. They haven't really changed their language or their pendant in the last 25 years. They have added onto them, yes, but all the stuff that was there 25 years ago is still there.
