Newbie can't turn on the automatic drive

What does the upper portion of your config look like?

Are UI enabled, do you have prod start on PSN strobe true...when you push start is the PNS1 bit coming on....

Edit: Ignore this. I missed the part where there is no cycle start button.

If you have it set to local, it will just run whatever program you have pulled up on the teach pendant when you hit the green cycle start button on the controller. It won't care on what start method you have selected, as that is for remote mode.

Is it not doing that?

He does not have the start button, as he stated above.

What is the name of you program?

Is it called something like "Main"?

If so then create a program PNS0001 and in it just put call "Main" or whatever your program is called.

Also turn config 11 to TRUE and in your UI config set this input to the same as the start.

I typically just link all 3 together, Start, PNS1, PNS Strode.

For a PNS start, you need to be in Remote and pulse ProdStart UI[18]. Start UI[6] is used to resume a paused program since Config line 8 is set to True.

Three things, in this order, are needed to start a PNS routine:

1.) 8-bit pattern defining which PNS job you want to run

2.) PNS Start

3.) Production Start

So yes if you tie those UI signals to an input through configuration then you should be able to trigger the robot to run the PNS.

And as Skooter said: UI:6 is for restarting the robot from a PAUSED state. I believe it is only active too when the robot is in REMOTE.

I'm still trying to work this right. Because of my Teach Pendant is disabled in AUTO mode and I do not have any other start button on the controller, I added one external button to DI[101]. Do you mean by linking that the UI[6] and DI[101] has same rack, slot and start values?

What is the proper Remote/Local setup? There is four options.

..So I have to only pulse the UI[6] when other UI[1,2,3,8] are ON and there is no faults?

1. Turn on UI[1:*IMSTP]
2. Turn on UI[2:*Hold]
3. Turn on UI[3:*SFSPD]
4. Turn on UI[8:Enable]
5. Pulse UI[5:Fault reset] to clear any faults
6. If there are no faults, pulse UI[6:Start]

I also made that PNS0001 program where I call the MAIN program where my simple movements are.

You should provide more information in order to get support.

What is your controller type and software version? How are your UIs connected? Via PLC and if yes, which brand and communication protocol are you using? Or are the signals hardwired to the robot controller?
