Add I/O to unlicensed robot

  • I'm considering buying a used arcMate 120iB with RJ3iB controller. I need more I/O than the used robot has available. Can I add I/O without licensing the robot through Fanuc or will it require a software update to make the I/O work?

    Thanks.

  • Pretty sure you can just boot the robot into control start and up the IO from there. I think the RJ3iBs could only go up to about 1000 IO points though.

Now if it is a new communications bus, then yeah you will need to contact them.
