FANUC SRV0-046 & SSPC-134

    In the past two weeks i had two instances with two different robots showing both alarms at the same time. Initially the robot detected a collision and it was being recovered by manually jogging the robot to its home position when the alarms appeared, though this issue happened in different robots both of them work inside the same cell and have similar space function & intelligence interference settings but perform different tasks.

    I understand that SSPC-134 is related to space function, what i don't understand is why this alarm comes up with SRV0-046 or if one is causing the other, i would also like to understand SRV0-046 in order to root cause this alarm and avoid having to power cycle the cabinet when this happens.

    You'll unfortunately always have to power cycle an OVC alarm. The alarm refers to a higher than desired current draw on axis 6 motor (in your case). Typical causes are mechanical failure of the reducers or gearing, overloading, brake releasing (open circuit) during motion, or just pushing or pulling too hard.

    When is the last time the robots were greased? Maybe you lost some grease in that joint and needs replenishing.

    Does this fault occur in a certain position or is it random? If it's in a specific position, maybe it's going too fast, and you can slow the approach speed down also.

    Or as CSaunders mentioned, check the mechanical components. I found once we had low grease in a joint, and some metal shavings began appearing in the grease. We had to replace gear and re-grease robot to get the dirtiness out.

    Normally this alarm happens when jogging the robot in random positions, and both of the robots had this alarm when jogging the robot and the speed when we do this ir normally not super fast since we have to put the robot in T1.

    I still wonder if this two alarms are related, i will also look into the grease i don't think we have exchanged the grease for our robots since we got them (3 years ago).

    In the past I have seen OVC alarm occur after the robot is stopped abruptly (EX e-stop) with a full payload. I wouldnt call this normal operation and I suspect the robots I saw it on had other underlying mechanical issues, but it may be that the space check fault is stopping robot motion and leading to the over current.
