Hello! I'm working with two KUKA KRC4 Smallsize 2, KR10 R1420, same exact robots. They are both for the same functions, one already has the program I want, so, for not doing it all over again, I restored the image of the one that was already with the program to the one that wasn't. Backup wasn't working, the PenDrive was being recognized as E: and the backup was set to save on F: ,so I created a path on KRC Configurator with the serial number of the "once fresh" (the one didn't had the program) robot. But now when I save the backup, it saves two backups, one with the serial number that I created a path, and another with the "old serial number", it's WoV project kept the old serial number as well. Questions are, what is the correct way to change the robot name or the serial number of a robot when I restore the image from one to another? I can still use both backups? Do I need to change the robot name in the configurations and remake the WoV project, so it stays with the right robot name? Thank you!

you used KUKA Recovery Stick to dump WIM files from one controller to another..? why in the world would you do that? this is ALWAYS a bad idea...and KUKA explicitly tells you to not do that. Why not just copy program or deploy same WoV project to the second robot? this is not just proper and safe way but also more convenient and MUCH faster. it takes seconds instead of at least 2x20min. how is that for saving time?
still, there is more that you are not telling - what did you do NEXT...after dumping wrong image and booting up?
image will contain serial number, Windows SID etc. when you put this on a wrong controller robot serial number will not match and there will be messages complaining about different robot and controller ID. so what exactly did you do? it seems that you chose to change robot and controller ID with one from image so now both robots are using same serial number... am i right?
Quote"Backup wasn't working,"
so after deploying image, backup was not working? what kind of backup? (WoV project, archive, image). do you mean this time "backup" means Image?
Quotethe PenDrive was being recognized as E: and the backup was set to save on F:
again, what backup we are talking about here? do you mean this time "backup" means archive? what do you mean by PenDrive - KUKA USB Recovery stick or regular (nonbootable) USB stick? if we are talking about archive, you don't need to create another archive entry with KRcConfigurator, you should just modify path in existing one
Quoteit's WoV project kept the old serial number as well.
i think you changed serial number of the second robot to be the same as first robot. if so... congratulations... that would be unautorized modivication or tampering and could be grounds to refuse support and service. just saying...

you were supposed to ask such questions before doing what you did. you are not supposed to dump image from one controller to another.
image and archive are only supposed to be used on same controller where they are collected. ignoring this is asking for trouble and well, trouble you got.
the correct way is to not touch what you are not expected to touch, so correct thing to do so to contact KUKA and arrange for service tech to fix this for you.

this is confusing. it is not how English grammar works. word order matters and this sentence is worded as a statement but ends with a question mark.
also it is again unclear what do you mean by "backup" here...
if you are talking about controller creating two archives at once (because of second entry in KrcConfigurator) then they are both exactly the same (binary equal). only the file name is different.
if you are talking about images, they should be separate ones - one for each controller.
