Does anybody know if it's possible to map system variable into string register. I'd like to use it for reading current program name.

To my knowledge, no. Not from TP anyway. You can do it with Karel, if you have that option enabled.

I recommend https://www.onerobotics.com/tags/karel-programming/. And of course, the karel manual. I taught myself karel about a year ago using those two resources.
