Kawasaki KF262 with C55 lost backup

  • I am thinking then:

    - You could set your Robot Model to 6 axis.

    - Disable CPU C on the 1GB.

    This may get you away....

Yes, I have some documentation, but I shall place it in the Manuals, Software and Tools for Kawasaki Robots section so you can download them.

  • On 1GB board there is 'very small switch bank' called SW1, this where you can turn off CPU C.

In the manuals section, I have uploaded some documentation I have.

Look in the troubleshooting manual for 1GB and you will see board layout and SW1 configuration settings.

    Thanks you very much.

  • 1GB is a common part, so you could exchange the 1GB between the 2 (making sure you set the CPU dipswitches) and also swapping over the 1GM board (small credit sized board attached to the 1GB).

Do not get the 1GM's mixed, make sure you know which 1GM was with which Controller.

  • Hi kwakisaki.

    - I choose the model KF194 , and ít's OK.

    But I can't motor on.

    - When I selected Teach mode, I pressed the 'Motor ON' button , the motor light is on, But on the MFP, the status LED 'M-ON' kept blinking continuously, and did not hear the MC lines.

-When Switch to Mode Repeat and I receive error E1337 (Two MC lines do not match)

On the 1LT board, I found the cable missing of the CN1 connector.

    I don't have a pin layout of CN1 1LT board.

I looked in all the documentation for the C55 controller, but couldn't find it anywhere.

I think that cable is the problem above.

Do you have a pin layout of this?

    Thanks you.

    Strange...…..:hmmm:…...but interesting...…:icon_wink:

But if it's error free at the moment, may aswell progress with it.

Not 100% sure about the 1LT (I have no other information sorry), but you could be onto something there.

If you have a look at the troubleshooting manual section 2-31.

You can see the complete emergency stop safety chain, so I'm amazed that you are not indicating an Emergency Stop instead.

Can you provide an image of the TB2 Terminal Rail at the bottom of the Controller Cabinet?

I think though you could be correct in regards to that cable as it appears some signals are required, I'll see if I have any other information, but I think I've posted it all.

  • My robot don't include Teach pendant. only has a MFP,

and MFP don't has Deadman, EStop and Teach Lock switch.

At the CN1 position, I try to power 12v into the 12.13 pin so that I can Estop off.

but when not supplying power to CN1, it is impossible for Estop to turn off.

I think the problem is because the signals transmitted via the 1GS board are on 1HA connected to 1LT via the CN1 connector

  • Ah right, so MFP is not used for controlling robot/moving robot then.

You need the Explosion Proof Teach Pendant, I don't think there is any way around this.

I think from memory, on standard controllers, Teach Pendant was connected directly to 1HP CN4 connector.

So I think 1HP CN4 should connect to 1LT CN1 on paint system, is it this cable you are missing you think?

    - 1HP CN4 connect to X1 inside cabinet froom image1. (missing) : Sure

    - 1LT CN1 connect to RS-422I/F board (1GS) : image 3 (2.11.3 Troubleshoot manual) (missing) speculate
    - Currently MFP is directly connected to 1HP CN4.

  • Hmmm, I am looking at diagram at 3.1.6 and in conjunction with your reference to, this complete harness from 1LT CN1 splits between 1GS on CPU board and 1HP CN4.

So what I can see now is a cable should be plugged into 1LT CN1 called XLT-CN1

    XLT-CN1 then should split into:

    XHP-CN4 connector to 1HP board

CN1 on 1GS Board Mounted to 1HA board

Are you sure this cable is not hiding somewhere tucked out of way, or can you see evidence that this cable has been removed ie opened up grey cable retainers?

I think this cable is definitely required and also you will not be able to move the robot without Teach Pendant that provide trigger (deadmans) signals, I think.

  • I searched anywhere in cabinet, but have not found.

I tried to research signal trigger in X1A (X1a connected to XJR2) (XJR2 on EXPLOSION-PROOF TEACH PENDANT BARRIER UNIT).

The most important is CN1 of 1LT board, i think so.

  • I see in some of your pictures, that there are grey cable retainers that are opened.

I am thinking this is where cable should be located.

Without trigger signal, Teach Mode motion will never be possible and the source of this signal is from explosion proof teach pendant for sure.

Without this cable and explosion proof pendant, I think you have problem, can you return to supplier of system and make enquiries that items are missing and can they help to supply?

  • Return to suppliers is very dificult.

I will searched pin layout of CN1.

    It’s has 18 pin.

    - 2 pins is power.

    - 4 pins is trigger and estop signal.

Now, I have to indentify 5 pins for RS422 connect to 1GS board.

The Remaining output signal Is simpler.

    I will try it.

I don’t need teach pendant for operation manual,

    I only Need repeat mode.

    Thanks you.

  • Yes, I would be very interested in how you progress with this.

It is always good to see resurrection of old decommissioned systems.

We are seeing more 2nd user Kawasaki systems on the market now due to automotive companies upgrading and due to the reliability of these, it is good to see them being repurposed.

If I can provide further assistance, I would be pleased to.
