    I am currently looking for an affordable vision system for parts inspections.

    We are going to use the system for in-house testing only and would like to see what kind of reasonable priced vision systems are out there.

    Are you using a Fanuc robot at this inspection station or are you wanting a stand alone vision system? What inspections are you wanting to do? And what do you consider reasonable for cost? Most industrial vision systems cost at least $5,000.

    There are a lot of factors that go in to deciding on a vision system.

    1. What is the inspection (qualifying or quantifying) ie. presence/absence or measurement?

    2. If measurement, what's the tolerance? It becomes a gage at this point :tired_face:

    3. Minimum allowable resolution for the inspection?

    4. Lighting, lighting, lighting...(high accuracy measurement gets really interesting)


    Vision systems can go from less expensive presence/absence to higher end versions with all of the bells and whistles and super duper resolution.

    If you are going to use the equipment for testing you can contact vendors from Cognex,Keyence etc... And ask for Lab Equipment that comes with a few filters,lights and different optics . They will give you a very good price it and it is great for testing.
