I am constructing a robot cell with a robot and a lathe. I am wiring it up in such a way so when the robot e-stops it also sends the signal to e stop the lathe. The Question I have is do I need to wire the robot in such a way that when the lathe is stopped that the robot also e-stops. Taking into consideration that the e-stop of the lathe or any of the controls of the lath are not accessible from outside the robot cell.

The emergency stop logic is almost the same in all industrial machines. Working structure is very simple. No robot or lathe. You can connect the emergency stop buttons of all machines in one place. You can find the necessary wiring and inputs in the diagrams of the machines. You can add an NC contact on the emergency stop button.
You can solve a single machine by adding a relay in multiple emergency stops. In this way, many machines can be kept together. -
If the controls are not accessible from outside of the cell, then you do not have to tie it in to the robot.

Yeah thats what I was thinking as you would never be able to press the e-stop on the machine while the robot was running
