Can you please share details of this upgrade.
Is it its bios or configurator or something else.

Upgrade replaces software on USB recovery stick.

New software looks a bit different but it has more features and fewer files and folders in the root of the Stick
Some features are:
Supports more motherboards
Supports backup/restore using usb hdd interface (you can use it on laptop, no KPC required)
Interface supports several languages (German French Chinese ...)
It can collect or restore both partitions or just C or just D (handy when both do not fit on one recovery stick)
Can perform version upgrade
Can use custom names for images etc.

I updated mine a while ago. Not sure if it is requirement or not but... i used another version 3.x stick to perform upgrade on my old sticks. Once stick is upgraded to 3.x, further upgrades are just click away.

Mentioned option to use USB/HDD interface is a good workaround when working with older controllers that do not have USB enabled or don't have enough of RAM.

Funnily enough i used this the other week to image some none ed05 krc2s

I simple used my USB to IDE Cable and the KUKA stick and selected image external drive and it was super fast due to the USB 3
